Today the whole world looks with pride,
On photography’s wondrous stride.
Through doors that now stand open wide,
Its uses to behold.
In sports, in war, in industry,
In science and astronomy,
Around the world on land or sea –
Its power is manifold.
For it is truth without disguise,
‘Tis said, a picture never lies –
The positive proof that it supplies,
Is valued more than gold.
Photography proved a beacon light,
To a young world groping through the night.
As yet its goal is not in sight,
Promising treasures yet untold.
