It was Christmas day his heart was sad,
He grumbled over the little he had
Yet he had a body that knew no harm
And he had clothes to keep it warm.
He passed a beggar along the way
Merry Christmas he heard him say
He passed a church as he strolled along
Peace on earth rolled out in song.
Then a hospital came in view,
It drew him in and as he passed through
The Spirit of Christmas came to him,
He knew to grumble had been a sin.
Soon he was back in the church where he heard the song
To thank God for a body healthy and strong
And his heart was glad as he knelt to pray
For the gift of health on Christmas Day.
